Having said that I’d focus on the Psalms, I seem to have further focused in on references to “All” (either directly or indirectly) within the Psalms.
All peoples! At a time when the western world’s focus is very much on the colour of one’s skin, what could be more wonderful than to remind ourselves that our God is not just the God of Israel, far less just the God of Britain or the West, but the God of ALL nations and all peoples.
Although that truth is somewhat hidden in the OT it shines forth gloriously in the NT, but that is not to say that God’s purpose changed with the close of the OT. God’s purpose had been from eternity past to save men and women from every tribe, language, people and nation; and nowhere is that clearer seen than in the Psalms.
And of all the verses there that I could have chosen, I settled on these three with the emphasis on the third:
Psa 96:1 Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth!
Psa 96:2 Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day.
Psa 96:3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!
God is passionate for His glory! And that it be displayed and magnified not in some lands but throughout the world. In our generation the church recognises many reasons to work in other lands – relief of poverty, education, health issues etc. but none is as important as this: that the glory of God might be manifest there!
And it starts v2 with men and women taking the gospel there and proclaiming it there, and in so doing they become the source of His glory being v3 “declared among the nations”. When men and women like Dan and Rachel give their lives to communicating the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ to peoples of other lands to the end that, they come to know and to love this God through His beloved Son: Jesus Christ. And when that happens the people of that land v1 take up this new song – a song of praise and thanksgiving to this God who saves all peoples and then the glory of God is declared v3 not only in those nations, but also by those nations!
Friend, in this day, how important it is that we are fully convinced that God is for all peoples, and that heaven will be complete when He has populated it with men and women from every tribe and language and people and nation Rev 5:9
