Things to value in desperate times – part 5

Adoption
I’m not going through these in order of importance or this would have come sooner, I wanted to deal with meditation and fasting for they are very practical things that we can get our teeth into and are often neglected; adoption is a reality that we can contribute nothing to – we simply are adopted!

But what a precious gift it is at any time, especially when we are isolated and deprived of others’ company.

Psa 27:10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the LORD will take me in.

Isa 49:15-16a “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands…

Many of us have good memories of our parents, but even the best of them failed at times. But our heavenly Father knows us perfectly, knows what is best for us perfectly, has all power to give us what we need, is perfect love, is always faithful and merciful, is full of grace and holds us in His hands. The precious promises He has given us are certain, His protection guaranteed, His love unconditional towards us in Christ.

Friend, in the midst of all we are going through, there is no safer place to be than where we are: in the hands of our Father! And to know that at any moment of any day we can simply cry out “Abba, Father” and He is there, ready and willing to hear our cry and answer us, not according to the folly with which we so often ask but rather:

Php_4:19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

And this is only a tiny bit of what will be ours in eternity! We have so, so much to look forward to with confident expectation.

Remember our Year Verse 2014 (can it really be that long ago?)

1Jn_3:1a See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.

Praise God for His having adopted you as His child!
