The snow has finally arrived properly!!!
When are conditions too bad to worship and serve God? I remember many years ago reading a missionary magazine and coming across a picture of a teenage boy standing outside of a church in some Eastern European country. He was wearing a reasonably good jacket and had gloves on and a scarf around his neck. Indeed he looked like many youngsters going to church in Britain in the worst of our winter. When I read the article however, I discovered that the boy wasn’t going into the church – the church was already full, and every week the younger, fitter, worshippers stood outside, worshipping with the church through open windows and doors. You might think that would cause a problem with the heaters inside, but it didn’t as they didn’t have any form of heating inside. The service lasted over 2 hours and the outside temperature was something like minus 15degrees Centegrade! I felt so ashamed of the times that I had thought that we had it hard! Jesus may never have suffered cold and snow during His earthly life, but He certainly suffered infinitely more in far more painful ways!
This week is a bit more back to usual (thankfully). I have a couple of meetings planned, and some one2one Bible Study, but other than that it is mainly about getting ready for Church Night, Coffee Morning, two services on Sunday and then visitation. The one other thing is the rotas (which, as you will know from previous entries are still outstanding!!!).
Please, please pray for these things.
