8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. (9) Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you.
On our website we’ve put verse 9 in italics to indicate that the verse is optional. All that needs to be said in regard to God’s work has been said in v8, v9 stands as a warning to us not to fight against it!
What an amazing promise – in this world of confusion where a thousand voices cry a million different messages, we find YAHWEH, the creator God, before whom we will all one day stand promising that He will instruct and teach us and counsel us according to His divine wisdom!
Friend, how often do you find yourself perplexed as you wonder at the ever changing face of political correctness? At the massive (and often overnight) swing in public opinion? No wonder if teenagers use the word “wicked” to mean “great” – it rightly reflects our upside down culture. BUT God’s Word never changes. What He has said, He will do!
Num_23:19 God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?
Number 23:19 says it all, man in his thinking is in a constant state of flux, God is unchanging: He remains the same yesterday, today and forever. And if we listen to Him, gladly, attentively, openly, and delight to do His will, then when this brief lifetime is over we will finally have it confirmed before the world that we lived it right!
