North Norfolk Coastal Path – Wells-next-the-Sea to Burnham Deepdale (11.25 miles)

The second proper day’s walking and again a lovely warm sunny day with no real wind. Drove into Wells and parked near the bus stop (figuring the least we have to walk at the end the better!).
Walked out to the sea and then along the coast to Holkham. This section follows the edge of woods and is on sand. Fortunately there is a fair amount of grass which helps to bind the sand together making walking relatively easy. Great views across to Scolt Head and many more birds to sea.
Inland to Burnham Overy Staithe, stopped here to do repairs to Sue’s feet and then one of very few short stretches on road, although as a very friendly policeman pointed out to us we were particularly safe on the road that day as he was preventing any traffic from using the road due to an earlier accident.
A further section of coastal path was not fully appreciated by all members of the team due to some blisters, but the spotting of a pair of bearded tits in the reeds and a marsh harrier hunting was welcome distraction. (Well it might have distracted Dave, but not me!!)
Arrived Burnham Deepdale and following a very short detour inland arrived thankfully at the Coast Hopper stop – just time to get a cup of tea from the cafe opposite before the next bus arrived! (Plus a chocolate brownie which was the only thing to give me enough energy to get on the bus!! – S)
